About Us

Liang's group, which was established in the summer of 2015, is committed to studies of ultrafast dynamics and the development of ultrafast electron microscopic technology and device. Besides basic science, our research involves technologies and skills of electron microscopy, fs laser, ultrahigh vacuum, and mechanics design and process. We advocate a working and living style of commitment to work with enjoying life, and a vision of gain from work, study and beyond.


Wenxi Liang

Born in 1975, in Panyu (now Nansha District of Guangzhou), Guangdong, he likes sports, and has interests of many sorts.

Zhaohui Tang (Adjunct Professor)

A distinguished professor of Institute of Industrial Science, Wuhan University, who made profound achievements in both Science and Chinese traditional arts. He received his Ph.D. degree in Physics in 1981 from the University of California, Berkeley, under the supervising of Dr. Alex Pines. He was appointed as the deputy director of the Applied Science Research Center of Academia Sinica, Taiwan, the Republic of China, and a senior scientist in the Division of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, California Institute of Technology. He is honored as an APS Fellow in 2010. His research interests span many fields, currently he interests in 4D EM, nanoscience and nanotechnology, photophysics and photochemistry, specifically, studies of photo-excited carrier dynamics and structural dynamics in semiconductor and carbon-based nanomaterial, and phase transition of metallic materials, by 4D EM; photoluminescence in semiconductor and metal nanoparticles; microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition (MPCVD) method for diamond growth, microwave and RF CVD; plasma physics and plasmon; femtosecond laser-induced ultrafast phenomena, time-resolved electron/X-ray diffraction studies of nanomaterials; photoinduced electron transfer in natural or artificial photosynthesis, photovoltaic materials.


Chunlong Hu (Assistant Researcher)

Born in 1988 in Ji'an, Jiangxi. In 2010 he received a B.S. degree in the Department of Modern Physics, University of Science and Technology of China. In 2017 he received his Ph.D. degree in science from Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, under the supervising of Dr. Bing Zhang. During his Ph.D. program, he focused on ultrafast dynamics in photophysical and photochemical processes, and ultrafast molecular reaction dynamics of polyatomic molecules. After receiving his Ph.D. degree, he jointed our group as a postdoctoral scholar at Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, working on the development of ultrafast electron microscopic technology and transient spectroscopy, and their applications on studies of physical and chemical mechanisms in new materials with novel characteristics. He likes running, possessing an achievement of 18 full-marathons, and also enjoys toying with digital gadgets and experimental instruments.
